About the event

I've been to my fair share of life drawing classes and to be honest, they are not my favourite. So a few years ago I started hosting the kind of life drawing classes that I wanted to attend! We had music and games and there was no one hanging over your shoulder correcting you - just a couple of hours of drawing for fun.

In this class we're going to use the same idea! We will have a live model for you to draw (no nudity parents, I promise, but maybe some dressing up in fun costumes) and I'll show you how to warm up and have fun with your drawing. And if drawing a person isn't your thing, we'll have some bits and bobs on hand to create still life scenes like flowers and fruit and toys.

Most of all, this class is not about being "good at drawing". It's about finding the fun in a serious art medium like charcoal, looking for interesting shapes and shadows to capture, and having a good time making art in a group. No pressure, no "you're doing it wrong", and no boring bits.

Suitable for ages: 7 and up

This class is with Sara (and possibly Dan).

NOTE: We'll be using charcoal pencils and sticks to draw with and it usually gets everywhere. Don't send the kids in their good clothes, but know that if they get charcoal on them, it washes out pretty easily with a good squirt of stain remover.
