About the event

Waaaay before we had synthetic dyes, people were colouring and printing on their fabrics and threads with stuff from nature. You can squish the coloured juice out of flowers, hit a leaf with a hammer, grind up rocks into powders, or wrap rusty objects in your material and get some beautiful results.

In this class, we'll play with some of those methods using things from our local natural environment and some simple science, to decorate bags, sleeping masks, and other fabrics.

This class is FREE thanks to support from the Tasmanian Government, Arts Tasmania.

Suitable for ages: 5 and up

This class is with: Elish, Emily, & Sara.

NOTE: this is going to be a messy one so no good clothes, please. While the strongest chemical we'll be using on the day is vinegar, there will be a heat source so please also ask your child to pay attention to all the safety precautions we set out.
